watched taped show,,saw the old Fairbanks engine that some guy re-built,,looked cool, wouldn't mind having something like that to take to shows,,, i wounder what they would sell it for at their pawn store?

Realizing that all of my favorite shows except Sons Of Anarchy are "Reality" (not really reality lol) shows; Pawn Stars, Swamp People, IRT, OCC, American Pickers, Mountain Men, The Devil's Ride, Deadliest Catch, American Restorations, American Guns, Sons of Guns, Saw Dogs...(I especially like Swamp Loggers is it still goin?)...but they are much better than anything on regular TV now that Charile left 2 and a half men, but I simply cannot warm up to Cajun Pawn Stars..."Big Daddy" lol and there deffinately wasn't too many branches on that family tree when they mad the little brother!
I wish they would make a gun show just about regular guns though, not 20mm cannons, mortars, rocket launchers...just good ol' Winchesters, Colts, Remingtons, Rugers, Savages, Springfields...ya know what I mean

Hey John,

Alexandria isn't that big of a town; not like Vegas. I watched it a couple of nights ago when they had the piece of crap mustang restoration on there. Enjoyed the show.

I wondered how that small of a town could support a store that was that size and had the loose change that the big daddy could spend $50k for a Springfield trench rifle.

I do think that his negotiating trait of offering a seller a "gift certificate" worth what the seller wants for an item he wants is a slick idea. Course he makes out like a bandit but what the heck. He has a business to run.

Kind of like everything else on TV; made up.

To get on the show you do not just show up. You send a email to the producer of the show and they pick who will be on it per the item you have for sale.
I am sure if you had a good item you could go on; sell the item for the show and leave with the item once the camera is off with a few bucks for being on the show.

It is kind of funny watching shows that are made in your area because you know the rules and the area. A local magazine was talking about how to get gator tags. In the artical they said do not expect the drama seen on TV when gator hunting.
And do not even get me started about that crazy logger. He lives down the street from me.

Alexandria has at least a couple of things nearby: U.S. Army's Fort Polk, and Indian casinos. A remnant of England Air Force Base. Still, no metropolis.

Spent some time (8 months) at Fort Polk in the early 60s at that time it was called the hell hole of the south. Since then have made friends with the KUBOTA dealer there Will Lauer, not a bad town ever time we go west we try and stop in. May try and find the paun shop..
