The world's largest hunter-killed black bear was taken right here in PA. Only one bear skull is known to be larger; that skull was found in Utah in 1975. Robert took this Monroe County, black bear in 2011. The bear's skull measured a Boone & Crockett Club score of 23 9/16 inches. You'll find Robert's #1 PA bear in the upcoming version of the PGC Big Game Records Book available August 2012.

Impressive. So do you know how much would this bear weigh and how tall would it stand on its hind legs? *Don't think I would care to meet up with him in the woods - even with a gun in my hand.

I've known about the bear being shot before it became official record. I believe he weighed just over 800lbs. Don't know about the height.

now thats a fair sized black bear! finally opened a season here in oklahoma on them,though they are nearly all in a few counties.
