Good Electric Pressure Washer

Im looking for a good quality electric pressure washer for a fathers day gift. My dad will not be able to start a gas one and he hasn't had any luck looking for an electric one. Any advice?

Best advice I can give is to get a good 12 ga extension cord to use with it. The pressure warshers draw a good bit of current, and it's best to avoid excess voltage drop when running the pump motor.

Build your own. Get a 1/2 hp compound wound motor, 115v, adequate cord to support the normal LRA for the distance you are going, Cross pump, a couple of $10 wheels and like name axle and you have one.

Decided I'm going to do it as soon as my store bought craps out which probably will be this year.

As far as I can tell Karcher has a pro line and a consumer line. Home Depot, Canadian Tire, even Walmart at time sells them. The stuff that you buy from them is the same cheap crap that any other company sells. Go to a dealership that sells Karcher and I think you'll get a better product.

I know the theory of Chinese garbage, but the first I bought from Harbor Freight I had 2 years then the nozzle shot off like it was fired from a crossbow, never found it. The manager was so happy to hear that, I got a new one for no charge. Someone... last fall, forgot to drain it and put it inside before winter.... so I had to pay for the 3rd one. I didn't take it out of the box yet. $99.

Most livestock equipment retailers sell electric high pressure washers. 'Used primarily for cleaning confinement hog buildings. I"ve got one that runs off of 220...been a darn good one. 'Still use it to this day. 'Can't for the life of me tell you the name of it. If you let it chew on a 2x4 it will eventually cut it in two.

I have not found an electric pressure washer worth a d*mn. Even 20 years ago they were cheap, falling apart, cracking, leaky pieces of junk.

They haven't gotten any better. Karcher, at least the ones from Walmart, or the other big box stores, are total garbage. You can't even put them together out of the box without breaking them. I broke two right out of the box just hooking up the hose. The nipples cracked as soon as the hose got slightly tight on the fitting.

Even the cheapest gas-powered ones are 10x better than the best electric. They are made of metal.

Frankly, if he can't start a small gas engine, how is he going to handle the pressure wand? My pressure washer starts very easily, and in fact it takes more strength to hold the wand than it does to start it.

Northern Tool has them. You will want a 5hp (min) electric motor if you want "real" cleaning power. Dad got me one for christmas from there. 3000 psi, it is a horse....gotta be careful w/ teh 0* nozzel...it will peel paint right now!!!
