My corn is up, finished planting a friends yesterday, pushed hard to beat the rain or he'd been stopped for a week. Starting beans tomorrow, but thinking about putting in a few acres of an early day corn, in some heavier soils on a rented place to bump up my yeild avg on that farm, plus the cows would have some corn stubble to work on rather than just bean stubble this fall. May benefit from the cash price if I can get it off before oct. How the rest of ya doing?

Our corn got done last night. The ground is as hard as concrete or like talcum powder.

It is really dry here, not normal for Iowa.

Central NY.
We planted oats Mar. 30- first time ever. Finished the first week of Apr. Finally gave in and planted 1/4 of my corn Apr. 17/18, and quit. Conditions were unbelievably perfect. Worked some more ground just to get the rocks off. Then the 6" heavy wet snow ushered in three weeks of too wet, cold, and several freezes. Finally got back on the ground Mon. Shallow tillage was OK, but it began to appear that some ground should be re-ripped, but it was way too wet down in for that to be productive. Finished corn Fri. Now it is all sprayed. Oats are looking better, but are real good only on high spots and over tiles. I emptied the corn planter in some bare spots in the field from a month ago. Those spots are still dark and smell. The corn is about 4" tall. Early planting yield bump will never make up for the bare spots.

Dave most of the guys around me are about done with some just finishing up thier beans. Corn is comming up about an inch or so here just east of Fergus Falls.

You werent around in the early fifties i guess. We planted then rotaryhoed twice and then cultivated first time no rain.

New Ulm area, last field of corn just popped up. (I do need to plant about 1/2 acre where I still have a temp fence up in the way - and replant about an acre the water backed up on.)

Got about 1/3 of the beans in. Fell behind the neighbors, but I have good reason - the tile crew called & will be coming next week, instead of next fall, to tile out the 40 acre field we had planned.

Put the oats in in the late 20's of March, only the 3rd time in my life I've planted in March. And I planted in the wettest field I have - a 1/2 acre of that flooded out too.

No rain for 8 months, then 4-5 inches of rain in a week, and now we are mostly dry again with the 40mph winds and warm temps. Got a 1/4 inch of rain out of all these little dribbles the past few days.

Forcast is rain 5 of the next 6 days, but based on past forcasts - we will see.

Nicollet County. Corn is all up. Finished beans yesterday except 10 acres of development land that owner is moving some dirt around. He said he will be done tomorrow so I will plant that on Tues. Was not able to get the pre put on my first 60 acres of corn so that is really getting weedy. The wind finally died down so will spray it with Liberty tomorrow. Alarm is set for 5:00 a.m. I want to be spraying by 5:30. Got some corn to deliver to feed mill. Was suppose to be in April but they were glad to extend delivery as they don't have room to spare. Seams the days are not long enough for me right now.

Good morning. :) Going out to spray now.

Corn is short around here, local coop is paying _over_ CBOT. That 'never' happens around here. Glad they worked with you on the delivery.
