12-26 tires

What is the difference between 12 x 26 tires and 12.4 x 28 tires. Needing a set of tires for my 2444 International right now it has super big turf tires and I want to replace them with 12.4 x 28 bar tires but have found a pair of 12 X 26 tires with the right rim off a old Deere combine.

You are gonna have to replace the wheel/rim if you want to go to 28's. The last number (26/28) is the diameter of the rim. A 28" tire will just fall off a 26" rim. Keep looking.

if you go to this link, it has that tractor with 12.4, 13.6, or 14.9 24. so does the tractor have 24" rims" if so buy the 12 26 tires and send them to me!

12 is old size marking....changed in the mid 50s , later, or so. It represented the width of the tire at the rim. New size marking...like the 12.4, represents the "bulge" of the tire, not the rim width. 12.4 equals the old size marking tire that was 11 inches wide at the rim. If you go from 26 to 28 inch DIAMETER, it does not work without the rim size being changed.

firestone tire chart says a 12 26 tire is 49.5 in. dia. 12.4 28 is 49 in. dia. 12 26 tire is the old number for 13.6 26. It is a little wider, but if it clears the fenders good, I"d do it.

as long as the price is right bolt them on and see if they clear the fenders and anything else
sounds like you found a great deal
