STARTED WORKING GRROUND WITH 1586 AFTER NEW STAT AND COOLANT IN RADIATOR. AFTER ABOUT 2 HOURS NOTICE TEMP. GAUGE GOING INTO RED ZONE, SO SHUT ALL DOWN. NOTHING LEAKING OUT .COULD WATER PUMP NOT BE CIRCULATING OR JUST ENGINE PROBLEMS COMING ON. ALL FILTERS AND OIL ALL GOOD.COULD NEW STAT BE STUCK SO DOESNT COOL ? JIM

I don't think it would be your stat after 2 hours of work, if the stat was faulty i'd expect problems after 10 minutes of hard work... My best guess would be a poor rad, not leaking but fins filled with cr*p... or possibly a poor water pump.
A bad head gaket/liners etc usually results in water being force out by pressure, so if you have no leaks and no water in the oil, i don't think you have an engine problem.
My advice is to pull the rad out and get it cleaned... might be filled with dirt between the fins or the cores could be plugging up (my combine has this issue), best bet is to take it to a rad shop and get them to acid bath it.

Your tubes may be plugged in your radiator. When the temp goes up feel the bottom hose to see if it is hot. Your radiator may needs to be rodded by your local radiator shop. How long has it been since you replaced the antifreeze?

Clean the rad. Last year I had that problem with a Deere I bought. Took me three hours of washing and blowing to finally get all the dirt out of the rad. I hit it from the front with a low powered pressure washer and blew the water back out from the back. Did that until I was finally blowing clear water back out of the fins from every square inch of rad. You should have seen the mud on the shop floor under the tractor when I was done! It runs cool now. Jim

Put fresh water (only water) in, get it up to temp, and drop in 1 or 2 dishwasher tabs. If you think there is a crud buildup from hard water, put in a couple packs of the coffee pot cleaners and run it an hour or so.

Run your engine at high idle, and hold a rag or shop towel up to the grill: if the rag is sucked up flat to the grill, you have good air flow thru rad. If not, you need to clean the fins out.Otherwise, I'd say your radiator core is plugged. Also if no coolant was puking out radiator overflow, maybe the guage is reading high; you could check with infra red thermometer.

If you have a way to check temp drop from top to bottom of the rad it should be 10 - 15 deg. High temp drop such as 30 degrees indicates plugged radiator.

I assume the fan shroud is in place and the fan is not on backwards.

I bought a galon of the air conditon condenser cleaner a few years ago. Under $10 a gallon. I just fill a spray bottle with the recommended solution and soak it down. You would be surprised how much trash foams out of those fins.

If after checking everything that they said,if it still gets hot check that the front bushing in your inj. pump hasn't turned. That would cause your intrafance inside the pump to lose oil pressure and retard the pump timing.
