O/T Pump Drawing Air

O/T: I have a new booster pump on our swimming pool which develops pressure OK, but continues to suck in air and runs making a thumping sound. I have tightened all the screw-on type of PVC Fittings thinking that might be the source of the air leak to no avail. The dealer suggested using PVC pipe cement to re-seal all the other joints in the suction lines...that didn't help any either. I exchanged the pump for another new one and will install it tomorrow. Any help anyone out there can give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Plug off the pump and put air pressure into the suction pipe with a fitting and compressor. (limit your pressure to about 50 psi) you will find the leak with dish soap in a spray bottle to find the foam. (or hear it leak easily) Jim
