Mounted picker

I saw the post about a picker on an m and it got me thinking. What model is it? All I know is its ih. I was wondering if this one I have would work on my super h, 450 or 460. I know my dad and uncle used it on an m but they said a straight h wouldn't handle it. I don't know if they meant handle the wieght or enough power. Heck it may not be worth fooling with at all. It is not in the best shape but also not so bad considering she has been outside all her life. It would be quite a project for sure.

Well, I grew up helping my dad with one of these. It was about a 2 day job to mount one on an M if everything went well. It tied up the tractor something awful, cause once it was mounted, that is about all that tractor was good for.

Dont know exactly which model this is, but it is either a 2M or 2ME I dont remember the differences. We had a good one that worked, and two setting over the hill for parts. I hauled one of the parts ones to the scrappers a few years ago, and I think my brother scrapped the "good one" I still have a parts one, simply cause I ran out of energy to haul it off.

I tried to give parts away on this site, but had not takers.

We harvested with a picker very similar, I think both a 2M and a 2ME on a Super MTA so I would think it would work on your 460 real good. Harvester made a one row mounted for use on the H series. jack

Been a long time, can't remember for sure, but probably a 2M or 2ME. If you want a picker I would go for a pull type.

If its an MH or ME, it'll be too heavy for an H or SH, they would break axes & ruin bearings on H's back in the day. Neighbors had one, had to buy an M to put under it, after a couple of bad experiences on their H & SH. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

I am quit sure that is a 2 ME picker . The elevators look like the wider ones that are on a 2ME. It has been about 50 yrs ago that I ran one of these . Aah, the memories. clint

When I was a kid (and dinosaurs roamed the earth)
one of our neighbors used a mounted picker and had
an interesting way of managing it on the tractor.
He had an old MF 65 diesel that had accumulated
about 7500 hours on the clock, He mounted the
picker, bought himself a New used Massey Ferguson
super 90 to upsize his operation and left the
picker on the 65 Diesel forever, it was still
mounted at his estate sale. He said it was a pain
to mount and if he wanted to use the tractor hard
it needed some work so he left it under the picker
and babied it. With the picker it might run 150-
200 hours a year.

When in high school dad let me run the one we had, then I get the fun of greasing it. Of course would do anything to drive a tractor back then.

the only two row mounted picker for an h is a model 24, they're much lighter than a 2m or 2me or 2mh series picker. one would work on a 460 with the heavy axles.
