Scam or not?

So I got this sale flyer in the mail from a Chevy dealer about 50 miles away. It has three boxes, one says $25,000. The other two are scratch off. It says scratch both,if 3 boxs are $25,000 "you win". It says first prize is $25,000 or a Silverado or a Camaro. Then in the fine print below it says to bring it in during their event to see if the "winning number" (in a yellow box) matches.

So,I never scratched one off, always just threw things like that away. So did everybody who got one have three $25,000 boxes and that just lets you see if your "winning number" matches?

Seriously, after the week I've had,I could use the $25,000 just to cheer me up.

I don"t think it"s a scam, just a gimik to get you in the door. Sister got one flyer to take a key into dealer, "special deal" on financing, could of got a better deal just wandering in, it was a rip-off.

Mine says I won an suv. There was a flimsy little key in the envelope too. Guess I just have to go pick it up some day.

My wife had a POS Chevy HHR. I hated that car. Drove like crap, hard to see out the windows etc. We traded it in on a New 2011 Ford truck. We still get flyers in the mail from a chevy dealer 10 miles away....."We want your HHR and will give you $7000 for it" Blah, Blah, Blah. It is a just a gimmick (scam) to get you in the door so they can sell you a new car/truck. If I was you mail it back to them and tell them you dont buy from government motors, and stop sending me your junk mail.

gotta love fine print--though if you want to have fun-go test drive one of the ss camaros or a corvette--I ain't allowed to test drive them anymore "8^(

Local dealer sends out that crap several times a
year. It kind of irritates me that they think I'm stupid enough to come in for the sales pitch. The same dealer occasionally sends out the "magic key" which magically disappears into garbage.

Yep, everybody gets the three winning numbers, but if you look at the fine print, your chances of winning the car are 3.5 zillion to one. But your chances of winning a spiffy key chain are 1.000007 to one. So you get the key chain, and a nice sales pitch, if you come in.

And who doesn't need another key chain, and hard core sales pitch? Well, actually, maybe I don't. . .

Don't even go there. Blew a head gasket on one of the loader tractors today while I was cleaning barns. Same tractor that had a leaking loaded tire Friday and cost me $190 to get fixed.

Not really a scam, but a gimmick. GM, like Dorf and MBC are hammering their dealers to sell cars. So some slick salesman come up with trash like this to get you in the door. Then, like Auntie Wainwright, the door automatically locks and you can't leave until you buy something. If you really do need a car, and buy one, the same idiot tells his boss how well his sales gimmick worked, and he should get his raise. HORSE HOCKEY!

Gee, Ford Credit took the highest amount of money from Uncle Sam at the same time the government was helping GM, even more than GMAC took/needed. So ford is also a government motor company as well; not to mention they got fleet contracts without any apposing bids from the other manufactures.

As for the sales gimmicks, the Fixed Or Repaired Daily company also sends that crap out.

You must be talking about Graff,s. they are one of the best at mailing out this junk. Next you will get the "KEY" to take in and test to see if it opens the car for win. Worst thing about this kind of customer insulting 3rd grade marketing is that it WORKS! There are desperate idiots that actually fall for it. I think they get their "degree" at ABC Warehouse. Put up a few more balloons boys , that'll get em in here!

Funny how everyone chooses to ignore the fact that Ford is financed to the gills with help just like GM and Chrysler.

Got the same thing about a month ago from a local Dodge dealer. I ended up getting a free 3 day-2 nights use of a time share condo. Didn't call and make reservations so they could try and sell me a time share.

Good old Auntie Wainright... sold a used distributer to cousin Clegg - he didnt even own a car or tractor...

dealer here sent out fliers that said you won either a car or a TV or a one dollar coin.got three dollars before they stopped with the junk mail.

I dont think that is fully true.
Ford Got $5.9 billion in loans from Uncle sam, (no handouts) GM got $45 billion and only had to pay back $6 billion.

You're wrong - but don't let anything like facts change your mind. Ford did borrow some money from the Federal reserve (not the government) and has long since paid it back.

Meanwhile the US taxpayers still own 40% of GM and Fiat was GIVEN over half of the government owned of Chrysler.

Actually Ford got loans from the the Federal Reserve - not the Federal Government. GM got part of theirs in loans from the Federal Reserve, part directly from the Federal Government ($6.7 billion) and a majority if was an "Equity Stake" purchased by the federal government meaning the taxpayers pretty much bought the company for $49 billion when it wasn't worth anything. Given the current stock price the taxpayers are still losing money on the deal.

Well I said that too after years of using them. That was back in '84. Went with Dodge and stayed there.

Last spring was looking for a new truck. Getting older and don't do much road veh. maint. any more. Wanted a dealer close by. Nearest was a Chevy dealer (small town family business for 47 years). Decided to do a sweep and work my way out from the nearest to the farthest, shopping the 3 major brands...F..C..D.

Never got past the first one. Drove the Silverado and it didn't take me but about 2 miles of test driving to realize that the Govt. really got in bed with GM and turned them around. Great truck, great local dealership, reasonable price. On Star. Whadda deal.

Will be a year in April and have had zero problems and yet to find something I don't like about it. Past GM sins, gone.

Graff has a location here in Sandusky as well. I get the fliers too. Even if it's just a couple dollar coins, I stop in to get my freebies. I pass it on my way home anyway. I always make sure to visit one of the travelling salesmen they bring in. Won't waste the time of the poor Graff guys that get stuck doing that stupid sales gimmick crap.

and they have sold stock and recovered some of the money but still have to get about 55 dollars a share to recover the rest..
