CX85 Track Record

What is the track record of a McCormick CX85? My brother in law is looking at a 2005, 4WD, cab, 2700 hrs. Are there any particular issues to watch out for? It has a dry clutch, he is a little concerned about that. Paul

I got a cx-100. Don't know if that is the same tractor with the Perkins but I love mine. I think mine has a wet clutch.

All the CX series were perkins powered, whether CaseIH or McCormick.

The CaseIH tractors were all dry clutch.

McCormick tractors could be had with wet clutch if equipped with the 24x24 Xtrashift transmission. I'm surprised to hear this CX85 has a dry clutch, as the Xtrashift came out with the "5" tractors (85/95/105) I wouldn't worry about it. There were a great deal many CX tractor with dry clutch that serve loader duty here. Xtrashift tractors have 3 speeds on the speed lever versus 2 on the dry clutch tractors, you still get a left hand synchroshuttle with the dry clutch but it's a large mechanical lever instead of a smaller column mounted reverser.
