Exede Sattelite Internet Update

I can't remember if I posted about this on this page or on tool talk last week
but i heard about exede sattelite internet and signed up to get it installed (had hughesnet)
got it put in today
what a world of difference.
i CAN stream youtube videos.
general internet surfing is approaching a broadband experience
did a speed test
usually my hughesnet would end up like 750Kb/sec or so...
exede ended up at 3,500Kb/sec
so ... much improvement.
less than 24 hours in...wholeheartedly reccomend it (given that it is faster and less expensive than hughesnet)
i know an aircard/wireless cell, or DSL would be better...but those don't work here...so i deal with what i have.

Have an aircard here. Only way to get internet besides dialup. Better than dialup but still pretty slow here. Thought about satelite(sp), but have heard horror stories about the service.

don't have the cell service here to use an aircard...
so have had satellite service for 6 years.

first 2+ years had wildblue ... slow...can't stream videos, lots of hangups doing other stuff, even yahoo mail was slow to load.

switched to hughesnet...slow...can't stream videos, lots of hangups doing other stuff, even yahoo mail was slow to load...

both are EXPENSIVE...
as far as weather (a common complaint) really wasn't an issue except a couple times a year or less...

got an ad for exede (service from wildblue, different satellite)...price is less than our hughesnet service and...as of right now...speed is 7-10X as fast...CAN stream video...pictures load instantly...much different...
if you are a "gamer" then this wouldn't be good because there is a very brief delay for the signal to hit the satellite so ... if you were playing a shooting type game against someone with a faster connection...you would be killed and not even know it...

but this...so far...is unbelieveably better than hughesnet and wildblue

Steve You got me excited .. I searched the exede but came right back to Wildblue.. I have had wild blue for three years. Better than nothing but not that great..Am I missing somethin or this Exede just a name for wild blue

Glad it works for you, but how is it cheaper? I was paying $69 per month to Hughesnet for 15 GB max per month (mid-priced plan). I see Exede is charging $79 per month for the same, and $119 for 25 GB per month.

My Millenicom USB is charging me $69 per month for a 20 GB limit and it's portable; thus I can use it when I travel.

Hughesnet i was up to $85 w/ tax, fee, etc... went over my download allowance a few too many times and was up near the most expensive "residenttial" package...
exede is 49.99 +9.99, w/ tax like $60...
so it is a better deal...say that i am locked into that price which i"m happy about
