A few daily life pics.. maybe a rant..? up from the basement

'cause of the holiday here in China, I haven't been back in a bit, but I thought I could share a few more pictures about daily life over here... hopefully I will get it right.

This is the propane delivery guy, poor feller has to tote one up 8 floors to moms house, (not many elevators in the older buildings)
5636.jpg

Pretty much this is the "farm truck" out in the country side, its a "versatile", in more ways than one. Usually with a dump bed, you will see them carrying just about anything, here he has got rebar, and bags of sand.
5634.jpg

Here is a young kid heading out to the field, usually he or his father (or even grandfather) will plow the field and the calves will just graze nearby.
5635.jpg

Sometimes, if you don't have a cow, or water buffalo, you till your fields the "old fashioned" way...
5633.jpg

And last but not least, this here is about a 600 year old bridge, but mostly its not about the bridge, it is just a peaceful photo of a young couple out walking... and thats the kind of thing I like.
I am not trying to preach, but I been stayin' down here in the basement with ya'll 'cause upstairs had a little bit of "anti-chinese" feeling to it 'til the post got removed.. just wanted ya'll to know that regular folks here, are like regular folks anywheres.. go ahead and rag the government and the corporations, but the "average Joe" or the "average Zhou" are the same guy, they are just working to give their family a better life...

Sorry if that sounded like a rant,

Jay

cool pix. I believe the issue is not with the people of China themselves, but govt policies that don't allow American (or other) companies to compete fairly. That is also directed at the US govt for allowing that to happen.

I spent a year in Korea. I enjoyed the people and culture. Glad to be back home but I understand where you're coming from.

I reckon six-hundred years ago they built stuff to last... nowadays? ...eeehh, not so much

As far as I know this bridge is older, close to 800 years old, the arch is made up of carved "karst" stone, and the rest are carved blocks set in without mortar.. There is a bridge in mom-in-laws hometown that was older, but the US army blew it up when retreating from the Japanese around 1944. It was later rebuilt from the same materials, but with a concrete arch...

Thanks for the pictures, yes the average Joe has nothing to do with his own or hie country's destiney just keep the family fed and hope for a better tomorrow. We can raise he!! with gov. in the USA that's sumpin I guess.

Thanks again for the pictures. I really like the one of the truck. If you can find some of tractors would be appreciated! Vic

That first picture with the propane tanks on the MC looks as if the bike might be a US Military Harley-Davidson. Be nice to see a side view.

We left motorcycles in Europe, Australia, Japan, Russia, and maybe elsewhere to include China. I believe the "powers that be" were glad to leave them behind. Safety isn't a concern for a young motorcycle rider. Don't think the military bought anymore cycles after the war although there have been rumors that Harley-Davidson built some OD KH, KHK, and XLH.

I built a "military" Super Glide in the '70s and it turned a few heads. If it hadn't been stolen, I would still have it.

Can you imagine going down the street of any town -- especially Washington D.C.-- on a cycle with 3 propane tanks? Looks like a 2 wheel BOMB!

Jay. Many thanks for the picture's. My Son. Wife And I got to visit china through your efforts. Noticed the clean streets. Beautiful Clean, and no motor vehicles screaming down the road. Our country needs to develop streets and hwys. that are that clean. Sure would like to VISIT .Lots to earn from other countries citizens life styles. Our family's sincere thanks for the tour. KEEP EM COMING PLEASE. Warmest regards LOU & FAMILY.

Reminds me of when I was on Taiwan. Only Taiwan wasn't as clean and civilized at the time.

Nice pictures if you have more please share.

I liked the picture with the buffalo, I noticed the new car in the background.

I also agree with you, The avg joe is pretty much the same were ever you go.

Thanks for sharing

The govmnt is the main problem in every country! At least , for now , I'm able to post this without fear of being shot. Others , not so much. And even here , if leadership(?) doesn't change , maybe I won't be posting it either. Difference is , I will take 10 of them out first. Yes , you are right , we are all the same and would make good neighbors if we could just clean house in the FAT room up above. Thanks for posting. RB

That bridge picture looks like it could be a Thomas Kincade painting. How peaceful. Thanks for sharing those pics. It"s always nice to see and hear how the other guy lives.
