went to a john deere dealer today to see if I could order two petcocks for a 1948 JD G. yep he could get them but they were $ 74 dollars apiece!!! I said he must be looking at the wrong line on his computer. nope $74 was what they cost. I told him to keep them. where else can I look what a rip off !!!

if you have them off, take to a good supply shop to see if something close can work, or be put together, if not worried about oem look,,,,also check on this site's part section if they might have. maybe check flea-bay or c-list in your home town/area to see if any one is parting out, have extras sitting around...

Try a good old hardward store or a plumber shop . That's where I found a couple I needed once . HTH ! God bless America , Ken

et's see.You found a company that was still in business 64 years after selling the machine AND they had parts for that 64 year old machine?Try that with some other company and machine.Get your head on straight and think about it . Then quit whining.

Take a <a href="http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-JOHN-DEERE-B-G-50-60-70-TRACTOR-TAKE-OFF-USED-PETCOCKS-376-/220926179470?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item337039f88e">look at these on eBay</a>.

Get used to it. They're discontinuing a lot of parts for 10 and 20 series tractors. They can ORDER them for you through A&I if you want them to. That's real big of'em.

Just ordered an oil seal the size of a 5/16 washer and an o-ring about 2" from Honda outboard. $26 + $7 shipping. Brushes for a Honda ATV starter $18 each!

You hit the nail on the head if its sixty years old or six months old OEM Deere parts are insultingly expensive! I dont't want to here that boat load of crap about its age either, I also have F series farmall tractors for both work and play, their parts are not as nearly unreasonable!

Some hardware stores, or auto supply storesthat carry truck and specialty hardware should be able to match them from stock. They're used on trucks, air compressers and water systems. Pretty common part. You may have some trouble coming up with an exact match- that long 'ear' isn't real common, but the part as a petcock is.

The plastic fuse holder for a 1010 jd is $130 bucks from JD,or .50 cents from a flee market.

B&D is 100% correct. This board has seen these whiny post complaining about a Deere part which fits 60, 70, 80 year-old tractors and its price. Try getting an OEM part from a Cockshutt dealer tomorrow. Or go to a Ford or Chevy dealer and get a part for a Model T or a '58 Delray with a fuel injected 283.

You don't like the price a Deere dealer charges, find a new hobby or a new brand tractor. Maybe start collecting Farmalls and then you can go to a dealer and get parts for it. Wait a minute, IH went belly-up, so that IH dealer might not be around anymore......maybe try Case, but parts for even the VAC are very limited at best.

Try collecting antique snowmobiles and see how expensive parts are. Oh, and that's if you can find OEM parts for it.

Gotta laugh about that one. I cracked a sleeve in my 1020 a year ago. Took over a week to finally get all the right parts from DeereMart after all the wrong parts and returns, two hour long drives to the superstore,reordering..... I overhauled an Oliver 1600 a few years ago. Complete overhaul. I called a dealer in Ohio at 2:30 in the afternoon. All the parts were here UPS Ground at 11:20 the next morning. All there and all correct.
Want to know how many times I've gotten the right part from DeereMart in the last 8 years?! ONCE!
Good luck, because with their "positioning ourselves for the future" masterplan,Deere is going the way of IH,AC,GM,IBM and Sears on a rocketsled!

Don't worry about Deere. They probably make more money by licensing their logo to go on anything that it can be printed on than from equipment. The wannabes love it.

If you walk away from it without buying, you haven't been ripped off. I'd like to see a Deere petcock beside a Steiner one just to compare. I'd like to weigh them, twist the lever, check the spring size and examine the general final surface finish. IF they are the same in every way, then indeed the Steiner one is the true bargain. Jim

My 36 Ford has petcocks on the radiator and block that look just like the JD petcocks. You can use the later style petcocks used on radiator drains.I keep them on hand, cost was 1.50 each.I pays to shop around.I bought a small fitting for 89 cents that JD wanted 8 bucks for.

people like you are stupid I don't care what kind of tractor it is some parts will be expensive some will be cheaper some parts for my new Holland are expensive to and you rrlund you must be queer and like when f agco puts it in yer a zz do you lick it clean after?
