Allied 660 loader removal and remounting

Hi, I took my Allied 660 loader off today because I want to remount it. Am I correct in assuming that the vertical post, should be vertical (straight up)? And that the arm you step on, that is attached to the rear axle, should be horizontal?

Here is a video of me dismounting the loader:

Thanks for any advice,
Merry Christmas!

Doing what you want to do will change the angle it mounts on the front. What will that do you your brackets on the front?

If the point at which it bolts to the axle brackets (not the axle itself) is straight up and down I would be inclined to leave it as it is.

Probably may be easier to lower the front mounting brackets than the rear[redrill some holes farther up]. Some 90 degree elbows on the hoses would add to their life too. Are you from Nova Scotia? I'm from near Ottawa. Have a happy holiday season and a new year.....Ron

Hi, yes, I'm from Nova Scotia, although I work out West ten months of the year.

I'm making new brackets front and rear. I now have the entire thing dismounted, and I'll take the opportunity to clean the engine up, change out all the filters, do some maintenance, etc. I might even split it and do the clutch... but that would take more ambition than I have right now.

I'm hoping to get it done next week, and put back together, but we'll see.

Bye for now,

Troy

The brackets are kind of a universal fit type. They will fit many different tractors with some modifications. You axle brackets just need modified. Where they bolt together in front of the axle. Your axle brackets just need to be installed with the flange up. That will raise the loader to a more level position. You may have to cut/weld/modify them a little but that is all you need to do.

I used to mount those older Allied loaders when they where new. The instructions where just a general picture of how it went together on a tractor. Usually not the one you had to mount it on. So you made it fit the best you could. So it depended on the skill and patience of the installer how they went together.

As long as it is setting in the front bracket correctly then you can raise the rear to where you need it to get more ground clearance. Some times the brackets go on top of the axle with the fender then setting on the loader bracket.

i would just remount at rear axle .
it looks like the steering tires are hitting the loader arm cyl's .
i would make the frame level too . with stuff on the boots and sliping and cold it would hurt the leg .
the old girl looks good and straight .

I don't think it matters a whole lot if it's
vertical, horizontal or anywhere in between. You
want to make sure the mounts on the axle fit flat or
are properly shimmed to pull the brackets up tight
for all the mounting bolts.
