December 24th Ya Know What That Means!

Guitar is in a transitional phase right now and not fit fer human consumption.

When I get this silly technique mastered, I’ll put somethin' up.

With that lead-in, I thought it meant-

Holy smoke, I'd better start shoppin'!

Dad worked at Sears for awhile after the war- he said he always volunteered for the last shift on Christmas eve- they got commissions, and he said the procrastinators would come in after work, and you could sell them almost anything!

Yeah, well, the cows wanna be fed still. I like it when the Holiday falls on a Sunday because I don't have to take an extra day off. (I get Sundays off every week)

Well our family celebration is pretty much done. Brother goes to visit his wife's family this afternoon.

Need to finish up on the old M2 Gleaner so we have room for the contents of what may be one of the biggest Xmas gifts ever. We have a shipping container that finally cleared customs (we got the confirmation when we were opening our stockings).

Bunch of household goods and a "old" eicher tractor. It left India Sept 17 so we have been waiting very anxiously.

Anybody want to help unload a truck next week????

I was looking at Eichers a little when I was shopping... Was told that a lot of MF parts interchange... true or false, I don't know.... Let's see the pics...

I got the work pager, so you know what that means... If it can break, it will. You shoulda seen my carcass on Thanksgiving...

Got through the feeding without a problem this AM , no parts needed . The ground was even froze to hold me up out of the mud BUT the cows will be wanting somthing to eat again in the morning !! The mud is getting to the point ya might loose a boot if ya aint carefull , I will take the froze ground any day !!

Yes eicher and MF were under some sort of similiar
ownership at one point. The one I am bring in is a
241. Don't think there was any massey parts in this
dude.

Tractor was my wifes wedding gift to me and getting
it through customs has been the bain of our
existance the past month.

So, just out of curiosity, how'd you end up living in the States and buying a German tractor from India???? That's an afternoon worth of conversation in itself......

Eicher is a brand. Very common in India. The model comming in is prob the most popular over there. Far as I have been able to tell I will likely have the only 241 here in the states

Broke the drawbar on my MX200 when the dirt scrapper was up on the bank and the tractor was down the bank.

Guess those drawbars aren't made to have a up pull on them.

Anyway we had to order one Wednesday and they said with the Holiday we won't see it till Wednesday.

That was a $600 boo boo on my part.

When I was a kid it seemed like the apron chain on the manure spreader would always break on Christmas or a Sunday. That meant forking off the load and fixing the chain. Too bad you can't get dairy cows to take the day off.
I am sure some of you guy's can relate to the apron chain!

Yes it is a afternoon of conversation.

Short version I was born and raised in Iowa, Met a
lovely lady from Delhi, got married!!

Saw these 241's over there doing just about
anything imaginable and wanted one. Since we
wanted to also bring in much of her household
furnishings we did the whole works in one go.

Oddly enough Dave we met face to face the first
time in London.

Good for you..... I googled it and didn't really see many here in Germany either.... Hope you make out OK with parts.

My 1st experience with London was walking out of a subway and asking directions but hadda go thru about 8 folks before I found one that spoke english.....

Don't remember spreading manure on Christmas, but I can sure relate to the dairy cows. We had to get chores done before presents- I'm sure it built character, but seemed like a drag at the time.

They have been made in India since the 60's I think
about the same deal as the Mahindra's that are made
from the same tooling as the british IH's.

As to parts I picked up a bunch of filters and
maintenance stuff. Not intending to work it very
hard, it will mostly be a show tractor.

There are a few youtube vids of this model.
