John here's another one that will get you tearing up.

We were at a our local town festival where they have a small talent show.

I knew my daughter, who is has great voice, was going to sing.

She gets up there and what does she sing. Daddy's Hands.

Try to keep a dry face in front of hundreds of people who are all looking at you to see how daddy reacts.

I'll never forget that day. Tearing up as I type.

As the album covers show that group has changed over the years, they started around the sixties, but their harmony has remained absolutely beautiful. Sure I love a banjo but some of their songs may not be as conducive to the banjo.

Yep and as a guy gets older those exact kind of memories grow even more precious. Recall the line from the song Paul Anka wrote for Kodak I believe it was....."The times of your life"

"Memories are time that you borrow, to spend when you get to tomorow"

THE TIMES OF YOUR LIFE

Good morning, yesterday
You wake up and time has slipped away
And suddenly it's hard to find
The memories you left behind
Remember, do you remember?

The laughter and the tears
The shadows of misty yesteryears
The good times and the bad you've seen
And all the others in between
Remember, do you remember
The times of your life? (do you remember?)

Reach out for the joy and the sorrow
Put them away in your mind
The mem'ries are time that you borrow
To spend when you get to tomorrow

Here comes the setting sun (the setting sun)
The seasons are passing one by one
So gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life?

Gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life?

Of your life
Of your life
Do you remember, baby
Do you remember the times of your life?

Do you remember, baby
Do you remember the times of your life?

MfPoor, Thanks for posting this. I'm in the midst of a "troublesome" son-in-law situation. I"ve been "laboring" over what to do. I sent this to him. If he's smart, he'll figure it out.

John T;
These aren't wedding recption song's. They are alone songs cause old men ain't sposed to cry & there's no way to avoid it. It's hard enough to watch your girl leave without adding to the misery.

And I always try to have a "plan B" for everything. Here is my #2 choice, which I didn't get the chance to use.

There's a great barbershop song called "Little Girl"- very schmaltzy and sentimental. We really wanted to add it to our repertoire, but all 4 of us had "little girls" of our own, and we could never even get through the first verse.

We saw the Brothers 4 last year at the local college- Either 1 or 2 of the guys are still originals, but even with the replacements, still sound the same. Did a great show- highly recommended if they come to your town.
