Read an artical tonight that saab is all done and bankrupt. End or an era for trollhatten. Kind of sad as i was an old saab fan. Really wood like to have a 60's to 80's modle.

Always thought their cars were a bit strange, but sorry to see "em go. Scary part is that their tooling and technology may go to China.

I well remember pouring 2 stroke oil into the fuel tank before filling it up when I worked at a full service service station in the late 60s - early 70s.

Remember studebaker, packard, hudson and a few others?? Don't want to blame GM, for the past 20 years they were a Zombie.

Flew their planes; Saab 340's. Very handy little plane to fly. Tough too. It was good in icing. Air conditioning on it was no match for Texas heat though.

No, Bendee, I confess I've never been to Oz and a few hundred other countries. But of the places I have been to (and I've traveled quite a bit), nobody tops the Swedes in "niceness".

Didn't they make a fighter jet? Did any Airforce
besides their own have any? Who will get that
technology? Or, did only the auto
part go bankrupt?

I had a '67 that had the oil injection system. Refill it every 1000 miles with i THINK it was 3 quarts of Saab Hi-M Oil. I remember cause I still have an unopened gallon can of it. First car I ever had that would get 30 MPG at 75 MPH. Traded it for a Mustang with a v-8, just before the oil embargo of opec.

I'm no Saab fan - but it's not wonder they've gone belly-up after GM got done with them. GM owned Saab until a year ago. After GM sold the company, and it went up for sale again - GM blocked the transfer of patents and licenses that ruined the deal.
