JD,
We were wondering if you took up the project of making your own leather holsteers for your hand guns?
Victor is looking at a company (NOT MADE IN CHINA, LOL)That will ship to you a holster, cross straps, and clip holders, that you form, assemble and hand stitch a a very reasonable cost.
To purchase a complete shoulder holster (right hand draw) with two clip holders, runs in the neighborhood of $100.00 to $200.00, not counting S+H.
We've read on it some on the internet about making one, it didn't seem too hard, but figured with all of your various knowledge, maybe you have undertaken such a project. If you did, a pictue of your accomplishments would be nice, and appreciated, along with the amount of time it took you to complete.Any helpful suggestions yours and others would be appreciated.
Just trying to save money, and have a good conceal carry holster, plus it's made in America.LOL..
We looked at both holsters for our other revolvers,we bought after the purchase of the guns.A little pricey, but well worth it at the time.
Now that Wi. has conceal carry law, most like us don't intend to shove the pistol in their pants
pocket, ladies have to carry in handbags, with the danger of having them lost or ripped off.My 380 is able to be pocket carried, but the 45 has a 6" barrel, and is not codusive to shoving something that big in either the front or rear of ones pants. We seen a lengthy video of one, making a holster,he did a beautiful job, but has a hand stitching machine of about $1000.00 new for a cheap one,not going into the holster business for us to consider such a outlay in funds.
What do you think JD?
We value your opinion.
Warmest regards,
LOU & Victor.

Thanks Rick,
That's what we are looking at.Seems like it's alot cheaper than what they want for a good leather shoulder holster. The 6" barrel is what stops most manufacturers. Not bad if you don't mind having 1" hanging past the holster. Thanks Rick,
Regards,
LOU

Lou, Tandy's been around for many moons...old drinkin buddy of mine inherited whole shootin match...company hq is rite down the road from me in Yoakum,Tx.

BC&T Thanks for your reply. Just trying to save what money we can on such expensive item. Barrel length is what makes it so costly, so thought that (looking at the pictures Jde sent) he may have created a holster for his side arms. Guess we still must keep on looking. Who knows. maybe Santa will come through for me. lol. Regards LOU & VICTOR.

A skirt and a handbag would be cheaper Lou

I'm gettin this picture............. Just ruined my own lunch

Nope. I've never made any attempts at leather-work, stiching, etc. Had to fix a few saddles and let my wife do that. She makes historic clothing and good at that sort of thing. Only "do it yourself" kits of any kind that I've bought were Heathkits years ago - to make my own shortwave transmitter, receiver, etc.

If you want "el cheapo" do what the girl did in the newest True Grit movie. She had to pay a nickel for that flour sack to carry her gun and that was a LOT of money then.

If I was looking for anything gun-related . . my first stop would be at Numerich Arms Website. I've been buying there since I was a kid and it's so much easier now with the Internet. I don't think anybody in the world has as much as they do - old and new.
