Farmall 560 Tractor

Can someone tell me if there is any other location on a Farmall 560 tractor that I can look for the serial number beside the tag on the bell housing. Someone painted over it and its not readable.

engine serial number on the left side (as you sit on tractor) if its a d282 diesel. it will say D282####### that may tell you if its an early or late 560. IH parts guy can tell ya.

I think the serial numbers are stamped on the tags. If you strip the paint from the tag it might reveal the serial number.

I'm trying to find out more about this tractor...Is the serial number and the vin. number the same thing? Or do I need to look somewhere else for it? I don't even know for sure what year it is, the bill of sale just said Farmall 560 Tractor. I do know it's a gas not a diesel.

JAngel, Get your wife's finger nail polish remover, And a cotton rag lightly buff the tag and you should be able to read the tag, Also if the rearend had been Up-Dated way back when there will be a small triangle or Delta stamp as a suffix to the Serial #. Hope this helps.
