Help identifying an Allis Chalmers tractor

Hi. I have acquired a very old Allis Chalmers tractor and I know nothing about them. Where can I find serial number or model number information on the tractor so I can determine its year and model? This tractor has a hand crank start and levers for brakes. Thanks for any help.

Try the photo galleries, to the left of this page. Also under research and info, try the serial numbers section. It sounds like a WC, though others had hand brakes.

Thanks. OK, I searched and found a few WC pictures. Not very close up pictures, but based on them I do think this is a WC model. The fuel tank and such look the same. Can anyone tell me where the serial number is located on these tractors?
Thanks.

The only other that looks close is an RC and it is just a WC with a smaller engine and every thing else looks the same. The UC is on the style of the WC but is more scarce and about twice as big. The other models that had hand brakes did not use a frame.

The WF, both styled and unstyled, was based on the WC, and had hand brakes. Most parts are the same, biggest difference is the differential/rear end, with the final drive rotated forward to drop the profile of the tractor. If his is only hand start, it could still be a WF.

Thank you everyone. I can't get down to the shed until later, but will look on the diff later this evening and see what numbers/letters are there. Will post later and maybe we can nail this down.

Unstyled means the radiator is exposed, and the gas tank has square ends. A styled WC has more curved lines, there is a rounded type grille over the radiator, and the gas tank is tear-drop shaped.

Styled is a grill over the radiator and unstyled you see the actuall fins on the radiator.

I was figuring it was a row crop as he thought it looked like the WC pictures so the other row crops were the C & CA with out a frame and the B for a wide front without a frame. And the WF was so scarce I never thought of it but it is not a row crop. On farm all my 68 years and never heard of or seen a WF untill at shows. Have the sales lit that Grandpa had when he was concidering a tractor the size of a UC but then he went with a 38 John Deere G new so I did know of the UC but there never were any around to actually see untill brought in to shows.

OK, it is a WC. The number on the rear is WC57627. Can we tell the year from this?
There is the really sparse grill over the radiator. Really just this wire screen in a frame that is screwed to the front of the radiator. Nothing fancy for sure. Does that constitute being styled?

So, the tractor is complete, all the sheet metal is solid. A dent in the hood. One dent in the top of the radiator. Engine runs. Spoke wheels are extremely rusted and would need to be replaced or whatever can be done for those type wheels. All the tires are rotted. It was a working machine that was left under a pole barn and the tires rotted. The rear wheels were obviously neglected and let rust. What would this tractor be worth as it sits?
Thanks.

Wire screen is unstyled as is flat and you can see those radiator fins throu, styled is a full blown grill like your car that you cannot see anything through.
