O/T Ford Edge losing brake fluid

We have a 08 Ford Edge. About every couple months the brake light cones on, and I need to add brake fluid. I know as the pads wear the pistons in the calipers go in and fluid is needed to take up the space. I think every couple months is excessive. I don't see any fluid spots where the car is parked. Any thoughts? Stan

Used to see that happen on older vehicles occasionally. The actual leak was in the brake master cylinder, and the leaking fluid went into the vaccuum power brake booster, where it was then pulled into the engine and burned. A tell-tale sign was white smoke from the exhaust each time the brakes were applied, but that probably would not be noticeable with a catalytic convertor.

has to be going somewhere. you should never have to add fluid normaly. the amount displaced by wear is not that much. even if it were one fill would be enough, then when new pads put on it would force it out the cap.

as you look/trace all the lines and the calipers, any wetness will attract dust, also if the master cyl cap isn"t tight it can loose fluid, as stated with others, best to take to garage who can put pressure tester on it also to find leak...

I have my doubts - especially on the brake system. I had enough trouble getting my local Ford dealer to fix thing that were under warranty.

I would not delay finding the leak, the ABS system puts a lot of pressure on brake lines and calipers.

Sounds way too quick for normal brake wear. Best get it on a lift and go to work with a flashlight.

That fluid is going somewhere.

Listen to rustyfarmall. Had the exact same thing happen to me; couldn't figure out where the brake fluid was going and finlly the brake warning light came on- pressure difference in system. bowl closest to the booster was losing fluid into the booster.
