The TA on my tractor "slipps" when put under much of a load. I have adjusted the clutch and the TA linkage per the manual. It seems to sound like a clutch slipping but when the TA is inguaged, the TA clutch is in the "released" position, meening that if it were the problem, it would ge slipping while the TA was not in use. Please, someone with more tractor expereince let me

The TA is gone.most likely the ta clutches(the ta has its own clutch pac). You need to do a"TA job".Steve

No, it's the ramp and rollers. Not the clutch.

There is only one clutch in the TA of a 450, and it is only engaged when the tractor is in direct drive.

If direct drive is okay, the clutch is okay. Slipping when the TA lever is back means the ramp and roller assembly in the TA has worn out.

You've got two choices:

1. Don't use the TA. It'll run forever like this.
2. Fix it.

Decide to fix it and you have several choices there to... You can replace the whole TA unit, which gets you new bearings and bushings and whatnot along with ramp and rollers. You can just replace the actual bad parts for a lot less money (but a bit more work), but then you run the risk of another part of the TA wearing out on you.

Thanks for the info. I don't need the TA for what I use the tractor for so I will let it go.
thanks again.

Thank you. I have seen these ramp rollers used else where so I understand what you are saying. I don't really need the TA, it would be nice some times for the very slow speed possible but as I see it now, there is no reason to mess with it. Thanks for the detailed information. Sounds like you are a mechanically inclined person. Fred
