Have a ford 4000 diesel, the oil canister seal keeps blowing, has any one else had this problem? If so what to do to fix it.

Are you using the correct filter and is it clean?

Are you using the correct cannister gasket?

When you say, "Blowing", do you mean oil or smoke? If it's smoke, you have blow by passing your rings and getting venting up your oil pump. Pull your dipstick with the engine running and see if you have smoke venting there. If you have oil, you have one of two problems. Your building up to much pressure, either the bypass relief valva isn't allowing excess pressure to drain back, or you have a lose/worn canister holddown, or seal. Do you have an oil pressure gage?

Check the pressure relief valve in the lube sysytem. It"s probably stuck closed and causing high oil pressure.

Always mention which 4000 you have - pre 65 4 cylinder or 65/newer 3 cyl. 4 cyl didn't have a canister though so you must have a 3 cyl - early one.
Unscrew the pressure sender in the left side of the block and install a guage to check pressure.
Should read around 60 +/-. I have heard of others having trouble with the gasket at that canister being made poorly - China? if you haven't tossed it out try putting your old gasket back in and see if that helps.
As TMO says you can convert that filter to a spin on too.
