You're apparently a youngster, so we'll "'splain".

Back in early '70's, there was a TV program called "Hee-Haw". Kind of a country version of Laugh In. You can still see it on RFD TV. One of the bits was a very laconic fellow named Junior Samples, who had a used car lot. Instead of the usual fast talking salesman, he was about the slowest you ever saw. Big ole boy- wore overalls, had a wheat straw in his mouth. Would slowly advertise today's specials, and always end up with "So call me today at Jr. Sample's Used Cars. BR 549." Even then, telephone numbers had 7 digits, so the joke was that he hadn't even updated his phone no. from the '50's.
