We have a pond behind our house. Its a little over 1.5acres.

Its a pretty old pond, best we can figure is 60+yrs old.

That in mind, over time, it has silted in badly, and lost a LOT of its depth, and volume. With this years drought, we lost nearly all of it. We decided to have the edges dug out, and reshape the banks. When the pond is at normal height, it is 8ft deep in the middle. We have lost 4ft of depth due to the lack of rain.

My cousins company did all of the work. We dug down past all of the old, rotten plant materal until we hit the original bottem.

Due to lack of time, money, and a few other things, we did not drain the pond, and totally dig it out. Also, we do not want to loose the fish we have.

The water you see is about 4ft down. We went to the edge of the water so as to not "break" the edge.

My little girl playing in the hole. It will be about 8-9ft deep here. Depending on how it settles

We decided to build a Sea Wall so we could have an edge to walk up do.

The John Deere 720lp is on trailer duty today

Finshed seawall. Ill grade it smooth, and get some grass growing on the top.

We are building a pier here. I sharpened the end of the posts with a chainsaw, and the track-hoe operator pushed them down about 4ft while I held them level. Pier will extend about 15ft from the bank. Depth at the end of the pier will be about 7ft

This end was extremely silted in. At the best of times, was only about 2ft deep. Taking it down to about 6ft

We are hoping for some rain soon. If we go another month without a good rain, we are going to loose all of the fish.
