Had the wood bought a couple years ago for a gate but was putting it off because I thought it'd take a long time, and, and, and.....

Mentioned that I had the stuff to the neighbor kid's dad on Tuesday. He showed up yesterday for a couple hours and a couple hours today. Forgot to take before pics but they woulda been pretty raggedy.

(quoted from post at 07:54:46 09/08/11) Should paint a John Deere tractor or two on that new gate.

The catholics in this area send kids around begging and making a bunch of noise around Easter and chalk numbers on folks' gates. Gonna make dam sure there is a note at the church for them to stay away............

Douglas Fir always looks nice, I like the staghorn sumac tree, or looks like one, are they common over there ? Supposedly, mid summer or at a certain time those buds (if that is a staghorn) can be steeped in cold water, strained in a cheesecloth or similar, to make a tart summertime drink, I picked a few but forgot to try it. Also even fancier, have heard of wine being made, but takes a lot of concentrate. I think the window of opportunity is over when excess tannins get in those buds, birds make good use of them in the winter to get by.

(quoted from post at 12:14:50 09/08/11) I think I need a different neighbor. . .

These folks are something.... The boy with machinery and the old man with everything else. He saw the ramp on the horse trailer was wobbling a little. Said he needed to borrow it a couple days and brought it back with a new ramp and some modifications I had mentioned to him at one time or another... Charged material and and asked me to get him some steaks from the commissary........ Today, he asked for some steaks and antifreeze. German beef is expensive for no real reason and antifreeze is way out there....
