J. D. planter seed boxes

Why are JD planter seed round seed boxes so high? I have heard from $18 to as high as $90 apiece. These boxes are for planters prior to 7000 seris. Armand

Like DeltaRed says.... simply because they say JD on them.
But also, stop and consider how old those machines are. I'd bet Mother Deere would love to see them disappear, so they wouldn't have to carry parts inventory. Could be they're trying to push parts prices high enough that more of the planters get parted or scrapped...then those parts become obsolete and are dropped. Seeing that happen with some Ford tractors and equipment.

It's not just the boxes, its the entire planter! I saw a 7 row 71 (3pt w/ markers) sell for 1300 a while ago. 7000s around here sell for about 1500, and on Kijiji (Canada's CL) people ask 125-150 bucks a unit!
