Generic Roundup Question

I just bought a Fimco 30 gal trailer sprayer to spray weeds on the driveway and other places. I used a generic Roundup and I have some of the mixture left about 10 gal, can I save this or what can I do with it? I know that I can not leave it in the sprayer.

You can save it, but some of it will crystalize and drop out of suspension. May have to use a little more on next application.

KCT,

I leave mine in the sprayer, but there is a trick to doing that.
You don't want to leave any RU in the pump, or the hose or lines or sprayer tip/tips.
So I pull the suction hose out of the solution and either put it into a bucket of clear water, or I plug in another hose that comes out of clear water. Turn on the pump to flush out everything with clear water, that way the only RU left is only in the tank.
When ready to use again just hook up the hose again and or drop it back down into the tank. Simple and easy to do. The solution will tend to leave some residue in the bottom of the tank which tends to stop up the intake filter after it's set for a while. If your tank has a drain cap on one end (pretty sure it does) you can drain it into a bucket, and pour it back in through a piece of screen wire to catch the crud.

Wait a couple weeks till the weeds come back and spray again.I spray weeds all summer long.

Man I see this thing answred ever way. I use the exact sprayer, just bought a new one this spring. I usually mix a tank about the first of May and use and continue to add along all year up untill around the end of October. At most I might go 3 weeks withou spraying some but have never had any real problems. I guess as the guy say it might be BETTER to flush the pump but if you use it along you will be O.K.

I mix 25 gallons at a time. Use what I need and let the rest set till next time. I now let it set over the winter time, it doesn't freeze much here in Houston. Years ago I did the "right" thing and cleaned and flushed with fresh water and had to fight with getting the pump primed. Now I put it up with what ever is left.

2 1/2 gallons of 41% glyphosate lasts me about 2 years.

My sprayer is a cheap 12v, 25 gallon Fimco from Tractor Supply that I bought at an auction for $60. Probably 8-9 years ago. I've never had any issue with crystallization.

I'm on the second 25 gallon Fimco in about 15 years. The first got a hole knocked in the tank. It's used with 41% glypho, a few hundred gallons yearly, and has the mix in it continuously throughout the growing season. It only gets flushed and drained once before the first freeze. No problems.

I have had the best luck with the little 12volt and our bigger sprayer, We just mix camper antifreeze in them, It works great. Never mixed any more RR this spring and it worked fine, turns it to a pink color. I also mix a little first rate, seems to make the RR work better and helps on weeds like mare's tail. Vic

I also use the generic roundup to control weeds in the driveway, fence rows, and strategic other places. My sprayer is a 3 gallon pump up style so it is not a problem to make sure the sprayer is completely empty after each use, but, I leave the unmixed container out in an unheated shed (I do NOT want that stuff in the house), and if it DOES freeze, I am unaware of it, and it has never seemed to effect how it works. The container of roundup I am using now was purchased 1 year ago. It set out in that shed all winter, and it is still very, very effective.
