Transmission Oil Overheating

Gentlemen,

I run a Fiat 130-90 and recently the indication light for high transmission oil temps has been coming on after working it hard on the PTO for about an hour. What are some possibilities that would cause this?

Edit: should mention that hydraulic remotes are returned back to home position so nothing is circulating constantly, or should be.

Hydraulic oil/filters are due to be changed but I'm not sure if this would have any effect?

I would change the filters as they may be blocking the oil circulation. Hal
PS: I wouldn't run it hard until you find the problem.

Does that machine have a hydraulic oil cooler? If so, make sure it is CLEAN and any other radiators/coolers in the same air flow stream are clean, as well.

Could be the filters or stopped up oil cooler, but every time I've had a warning light come on it was a just a bad sensor.
