I have been seeing light flashes in one eye, plus things floating in my vision, in the same eye. The doctor tried to explain what was happening. It all had to do with getting older. While checking the inside of my eye the doctor discovered a tear. I can't even begin to try to explain that. Anyway the doctor said he is going to use a lazer to fuse it back together. That amounted to about 5 minutes of bright flashes in my eye from the lazer. Very uncomfortable. The doctor could also tell I had been flashed from welding a lot of times, something in my eye wasen't as smooth as it should be. At 69 it still isn't too late to be very protective of my eyes. Take care of those eyes you were only issued one pair. Stan

Ya I to have had the problem of being flashed by welding and had more then one night where I could not open or close my eyes till I got to the E.R and had drops put in.

No. Never too late to protect your eyes, anything but dry? macular is treatable, and even that isn't always dreary. but you have to be careful of welding and grinding, till they say, oh, you got an hour left to live. I hate to say am old enough to be your son, and I got something like a wiggling germ in one spot, going to check it out this week. I think I brought it on cuase the shaded lenses in the cutting goggles were stupid, so even a few minutes at an oxy flame?? My father is 91, got macualar bad, but still eats carrots and broccoli, eye cap pills, just to 'retain' what little he has. This stuff really sucks. Good luck with 'em.

My nephew just had eye surgery for a detached retina. They did the surgery on April 1st. This was done by the Wilmer Eye Institute in Baltimore. When he returned on April 8th he was told the surgery need to be redone. The second surgery went fine. He's getting along ok now.

i don't know what to say, but I don't avoid eye doctors, not worth the risk of wasting time. He noticed problems when he was in his 70's, who doesn't, but then it was the macular, by the time he was 86 or so he couldn't drive, so legally blind. They is no help at all, radios and magnafiying glasses. But probly in Bendee's attc. there are differnt forms of mac, and it was one of the first things they experimented with stem cells on that actually worked. so until there is a magic bullet... taking care of them, and there are all sorts of vitamins, he makes a tea out of 'fructos lei chi?' a flower seed anyway, our Chinese gang started him on. after a while you don't laugh off anything, good news is it takes decades to get really bad. Just be nice if some scientist could invent something like they used to in the 40's and 50's. I wonder what's up with my stupid blue wiggling dot. Mac is usually dead center, so if you are a competition rifle marksman, ya'll neeed a new hobby... don't this suck?

Just a reminder to all of you-us to tell nurse if you ever welded or did gringing or had metal in your eye. you could go blind if you have test using MRI .Nurse told me that will heat or spin any metal in your eye. She explained other metal that might be in your body is not free to move but in eye fluid it is an will do damage.

Ya had an MRI a number of years back and was asked if there was any chance that I had metal in my eyes and I said heck yes I do a lot of metal work so back off to X-ray to have my eyes x-rayed. They did not find any thing but was happy they asked

MRI----one big bad magnet....I have seen the effects of it pulling an officers gun out of its holster from across the room luckily no one was in the machine. Rad tech said it bounced around a lot before it finally stuck...took three guys and some dirty words to get that gun off of the magnet. officer stepped in the wrong door.

Had an MRI on a knee with the pins and plated
fibula on the other leg. In other words, in the MRI
donut too.
Not so much as a twitch of tug, pull or
attraction. Felt warm but not hot.

A few years ago a canopy support on my tractor bent a small limb which whipped back and hit my eye. I saw two moons for about two weeks. It happened again a year or two later (slow learner). This time it left me with a "floater"---like a bug swimming inside my eyeball---and a dim "ghost" image on everything. At 70 I've just about seen it all anyway.
