hey vitalis ct. or ron calif. do you have a donut for an 8N exhaust i couldn't believe the shops here don't even list it in the books anymore-- put a new exhaust on my tractor and who ever put the last one on did it crooked and the donut got squeezed wrong so the new exhaust doesn't fit right it works but leaks a little and i want a new donut thanks i always find the answers on this site BLW

The 9/2/8N exhaust flange uses no gasket, donut or otherwise.

The tapered manifold seals by deforming the tapered exhaust pipe.

That said, repeated assembly/disassembly will eventually result in a non sealing joint.

They will not have one because they were never used, tapered end on pipe and manifold with a two piece clamp with a V type grove to clamp together and there is a top and bottom to that clamp that you do not realize untill you put it on and will not tighten up.

BLW.......as pointed out, the 8N does NOT use a donut to seal the exhaust joint. ...but... ya gotta JAMB the exhaust pipe up into the exhaust manifold. Use a board and a jack to JAMB the exhaust pipe. And take a GOOD LOOK at the 2-part exhaust clamp. It is OFF-SET. BIG SIDE DOWN. Understand??? .......Dell

There is a very good reason they can not find it in the book. Shoot even the parts book form say 1950 does not have it because they do not use one. Never have

no donut.

as dean said if the exhaust is excessively deformed, then try this.. cleant he e/m mating lip with 80grit sand paper. hand fit the exhaust pipe lip to it, use a pallpeen hamemr and tap the lip to the e/m lip to get a better seal.. then reinstall the clamp instailling it correctly!! if it leaks past that, then use a soda pop can or tin flashing as seal and clamp that in over the joint.

some people use that chalky liquid-set muffler paste between a bent flange and the manifold especially if the manifold is eroded or pourous. I don't use it as it isn't really needed.. but you can if you want. won't hurt anything.. just make it harder for the next guy who replaces the muffler.

thanks for all the response jokes and all I have an 8N and I know it doesn't have a donut but i also have a TO20 that takes the same exhaust but it had a donut in it so I thought it needed one so thats why i am looking for a 1 1/2 donut BLW

I think the TO-20 takes the same exaust as the TO-30 does and that exaust is interchangeable with the Ford with no donut. Was thinking about putting the vertical exaust from the TO-30 I had and was hanging here in the shed on my 9N ford.
