Milkweed and Poison Ivy Solutions??

Anyone have any cheap solutions (without taking soil samples!) on getting rid of milkweed and poison ivy in the hay fields?

My best field which is mostly timothy and a little clover has had a few sprouts of milkweed pop up this year and last. It"s not getting bad at all, however I"d like to nip this in the bud before it get"s out of control.

Also, another one of my fields is really loaded with poison ivy. Is there some type of chemical I can put down that will kill the ivy? I don"t even care if it kills the grass because that field is junk anyway.

Any help is always appreciated.

oz Brushmaster/2oz Remedy/1gal diesel/1gal water mix will kill the poison ivy & no doubt the grass.

2,4,d (weed-be-gone) is a broad leaf killer, it will kill poison ivy but not the grass. should kill milkweed also

i mix roundup, 2-4d and a little dish soap for the poison ivy. does a real good job. the dish soap helps it stick to the ivy leaves. spot spray the milk weed with it too.
i had giant rag weed growing along the edge of a field, sprayed it with a strong roundup mix, didnt even wilt it after a week and a half. used some trimec lawn spray this weekend, 3 oz/gallon in a 25 gal tank sprayer, that got it good.

I've been battling a non-native milkweed the last 5 years. Its tough, it comes back again and again from its big root system. I've only had luck on the stuff that hasn't established yet. The rest I can only slow down.

I've only used round up as spot spray, the plant dies off then a new shoot grows right up.

I guess it doesn't matter if it is told/written/specified/whatever, a 1000 times, people keep on thinking Roundup is a general herbicide....it is not.....it is intended to kill grass.......grass, not non-grassy plants. Yes, it will hurt some other plants outside of grasses, but that does not make it a broad spectrum herbicide.

I've sprayed milkweed with 2-4-D until I'm blue and it always returns the following year. Got some Grazon and mixed it a little strong and it "smokes" the milkweed and ivy.
