Ensign Vaporizer on Farmall 460

We put a kit in this vaporizer, we got from that person down in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma. It still won't work right. Sometimes it won't let the fuel through, and will only run if you keep the choke all the way out. Also it always leaks fuel when you shut it off. I need to find someone who knows Ensign propane vaporizers like some hot rodders know Holley carburetors!! Any names of experts to send it to?? I've had my fill! The best guy around here proved to not know anything. He gave up immediately and said replace it with a Century. I'm sure there are some Ensign experts somewhere?

There is absolutely nothing in an Ensign vaporizer that is any more complicated than your wife's hairbrush.

Take it apart again, hold that diaphram up to the light. See those tiny, itty-bitty little pinholes in it?

It's leaking.

OK Allan. I had my friend and hired man take it apart. He is an expert on gas carbs but has no experience with propane. He replaced the big diaphragm, but not the smaller one, because it had a metal central piece riveted on it, and it would have required some doing to put that metal piece over onto the new one. Maybe I could mail this vaporizer up to you and you could take a look? LOL! I'm sure it's no big deal, but I got a problem.

Do you have a digital camera? We can do this over the phone.

Email is open; shoot me a picture of this little animal that's drivin' ya nuts. :>)

Can see why your friend is having trouble. A carburetor is a completely different ball of wax entirely.

The hardest part about working on a vaporizer is crossing that "I don't know what I'm doing" line.

If you've ever operated a screwdriver, you can work on an Ensign.

You could send it to Welther's Farm Supply in Verona, MO. They will fix it right.

Or you could just wait a week or a month and buy one on eBay. That is what I did after spending over a hundred dollars on kits and misc parts.

There are many threads on Ensign regulators on the Farmall Board.

(quoted from post at 09:46:01 06/06/11) I can't find Welther's Farm Supply on the internet. Maybe I could call up information. Do you have a phone number?
