Mower class action

They were going to give $35 for a push mower and $75 for a riding. I filed for one of each and got a grand total of $33.03 for the two.

Welcome to the US.

You have just learned the purpose of class action litigation, which is attorney fees.

Dean

Yesterday (Wednesday) I received a $10.19 settlement check and an extended warranty certificate (9 months) on my Sears push mower with a 6.5 HP B&S engine.

This is in Minnesota, distributed by Rust Consulting in Faribault, MN.

It was probably the 32.03 didn't remember, would rather had the money back on one. If you're only running 4hp and it's probably actually 2hp it ain't worth a shot.

Pleasantly surprised to learn that someone on Yesterday's tractor has read the book. A number of secondary individuals were introduced in this novel and a little tough to keep all of them in focus. I also didn't enter the suit; knew it was just another scam for the attorneys to make a killing.

Most are screw jobs but they already got over you on something so you might as well get some back. Usually doesn't take much effort to join in.

That's the excuse the lowlifes use around here for getting foodstamps and smoking "medical marijuana".

Hello tlak,
We had a post on the subject on tool talk May 25.
Your next air cooled engine, no matter what will be powering, will cost us more.
I did not get on the list,2 of my engines would have quilified. The attorney/s will always come out ahead money wise. They were paid before any got the little check for their engine, and they got the LION share for sure!
OH WELL.............life goes on
Guido.

Yeah, class action suits are not exactly the crown jewel of the legal profession. As Dean said, the only purpose is for attorneys to generate fees.

And I can't understand how they get millions out of those deals- they certainly don't do enough work to justify it, and I don't know why judges approve them.

Anybody remember the movie "The Jerk"? Steve Martin sending individual checks for $1.11 to millions of Opti-Grab class members.

When somebody gets over on you you can get mad and come here and whine about it, what did it get you?

No, class action suits can indeed have merit- its just a shame the lawyers get most of the proceeds, instead of the aggrieved parties. Entire law firms do nothing but class actions- they advertise on late night TV. Its a very lucrative area.

i for one agree with class action lawsuits as they bring a lot of attention to the unwary buyer. how many knew that motors were under the stated power when you purchased it? would it had suited your intentions for its purchase. would you have purchased it at the lower rating. how about medical supplies? the manufacturer possibly knew about its dangerous side, are you. case in point, sheetrock from china. those who have it in their homes are due compensation and if that means a lawyer is compensated also, then so be it. and yes, i filed for the hp lawsuit. not just compensation but some even tho it may cost me more in the future when i purchase a true rated item.

Ford lost a class action suit on the electronic ignition module for their Taurus. It costed me over $500 by the time the Ford dealership correctly diagnosed the problem and replaced it. I "joined the class" and got a whopping $40 out of it. The lawyers that would never consider lowering themselves to even drive a Taurus made millions.

I remember hearing a couple of years ago that a lawyer in Illinois got involved in a class action against McDonalds over their Monopoly game, I think it was, and as it as I understood it, takes only four people to get a class action off the ground of which none can be the attorney(s) involoved. He lined up four family members. I remember him being interviewed and taken apart on the radio.

Do claas actions have merit? Perhaps, if lawyers aren't involved.
