thought i would be cutting grass with this tractor by now but other things came up you know how it goes

Nice looking restoration.

Try to keep the work going as long as possible. As long as its sitting on the jackstands, its not sucking fuel. And suck it will, once you get it going.

I heard they do suck the fuel but its hard working days are over its just going to pull a grass mower if i ever get it done

if you have anymore info on this tractor i hope you will share it with me they are pretty rare i think they only built 1500 of them back in the day thanx

I'm sure a gasoline fueled one would go through a tankful in a hurry, but my dad had a 650 diesel and I never heard him comment on it being hard on fuel. He traded it in on a JD 4320 in 1971. He was an IH man until he bought a 4020 the year before.

I'd like to hear more about this heavy fuel usage

I have two IH TD18s (691 cu in) that use less than 2 gal/hr doing moderate work, and they weigh 33000 lb. While our the little TD9 hasn't been running long, I doubt it will exceed the big fellas. The MD usually needs about 5 gal a day if mowing. I've often seen the Super C use more fuel.
