tractor stalls

Hi I have a 1957 hassey harris pacer #16. She starts the first turn , has good oil pressure, after running a while she will stall out. Starts right up again. Going to take off sediment bowl and clean carb. Maybe need new carb kit? appreciate any help Harold

Make sure you have a full stream of gas from the tank to the carburetor. Hold a clean container to catch the gas. If there's just a trickle you probably have blockage in the fuel tank. If there's a full stream from the tank I would remove the tube fitting where your gas connects to the carburetor to see there's a screen behind that fitting that's plugged with rust or dirt or both. If there's no blockage there I would pull the carburetor and soak it in carburetor cleaner and blow out all the jets with air. Hal

Trouble shoot first fix after you know where the problem is.. I would first check that you have good spark when it stalls on you. Good blue/white spark that will jump a 1/4 inch gap. Next pull the drain plug out of the bottom of the carb and let it flow for 5 minutes or so. Catch that liquid gold so you can look at it and make sure it doesn't have a lot of water or dirt in it. Then which ever if the problem fix it

Don't overlook a bad condenser. They can make a carb look bad also. Been there done that.

What Hal says, plus look in the tank, I had a small piece of plastic that had been peeled off of the gas can spout, tractor would start right up but then run out of fuel when under a load. Under load it would suck that plastic down over the hole. just my experience gobble

Thing's to check would be something in the gas tank. Something gets sucked to the outlet and then when there is no suction the debris floats to a different part of the tank. The condenser is something you can also replace or check. They are pretty cheap
