Curious as to a ballpark estimate to haul a JD 730 wide front from eastern Michigan to Denver, Colorado. Have never owned a tractor so have no idea the expense. I would actually have posted this on the hauling site except I dont want to deal with the possibility of a bunch of scammers. Just need your expertise in this matter. Thank you all in advance for your input and have a safe and Happy New Year.

Why not post on the hauling site? I know you said you don't want to deal with the scammers, but if you're just looking for a price, how can they scam you?

I had a tractor hauled for 60 CENTS a loaded mile, but that was a different time and place.

$1.00 per loaded mile only works when the tractor can share a ride on an otherwise fully loaded truck. $2.50 per loaded mile is actually too low for transporting a single tractor. That dollar figure won't do much more than cover the expenses, and I'm not too sure about that.

I have a IH 300 to come that way next spring. I could put it on then for a $1.75 per mile. If you can wait till spring it would be best. To save getting road salt all over it and soaking into the cracks that wont wash out. Tarping it will ruin the paint either due to black marks from the tarp or worn off paint. The other option would be an enclosed trailer. I have the insurance and other credentials for this.

Call around to some local trucking companies. I use one here in Sioux Falls that has trucks all over the country and a lot of them need something to fill a backhaul or a load going somewhere. Last one I had hauled was a 1020 with loader from Tucson. Little over 1500 miles and cost me $800. Things coming out of upper Michigan are a little harder to get on a load though. I can give you his number if your interested.

You will be looking about 2.50 a loaded mile to get your tractor there and I feel thats on the cheap side. But who ever you have do it MAKE SURE TO GET A COPY OF THEIR INSURANCE!!!!! Liability and cargo . If not you will have no recourse if it all go's south. If you go to the feed back fourm there are a bunch of guy's posting about reputable haulers. I'd like to do it for you as I'm in E MI but to cover my cost to get back I couldn't give you a cost effective price.

Sammy: if you are in town Thursday by noon, downtown Denver will be the stock-show parade starting at noon,,,there will be some [hopefully a lot] tractors in parade since it is to be about 60 degrees,,,,[if you scroll down in t-talk, you can read my rant about the s-show and the tractor show we/they use to put on]...being winter time, not to sure what is going on for any big farm stuff other than what will be at s-show...if i find out before weds, will post...hopefully i will be there with my w-6..[pic shows my tractor to look for]...the shows ends back up at Coors field parking lot to the north....stop by and say hey[ as gomer plye would say] lol

A dollar a mile is about the going rate for a 730 with a wide front end. 2.50 a mile is way to high. You could get a whole truck load hauled for that.
