JD 4040

Is the JD 4040 a good tractor? I would like to get a tractor in the 90-100hp range. Can any of you comment? Thanks. Paul

Got one with 8300 hours. Been in the family since new. Its been a good tractor. New head gasket, hydraulic pump rebuilt, and hydraulic valves on the back rebuilt. No other major repairs just normal maintanence. I think its starting to get a little tired and will get a rebuild eventually but still works for now. Use it for plowing, planting corn, mowing and baling hay, grinding feed and for blowing corn into the silo among other things.

My son has one. IT HAS 8900 hrs on the tach. Looks kinda tired. It is our big tractor, we use it to put on Nitrogen. and pull a no-till drill, and mow hay. I would give it a thumbs up. Really a 4020 with a good cab, and a torque!
