Been talking about my "new" tractor hauler. Here is a pic. Been shopping for about 5 yrs. Knew of this truck and owner declined to sell so I began hunting a 3/4 ton with 270 inline 6. As luck would have it the owner called me back in August and in Sept we had a deal as I was back and forth between home and Louisville, KY. Here it coming home. Had to kick the Farmall H outside so I can get this in the barn AFTER I clean off the chicken poop. Old - got your msg and will be in touch soon. ShepFL |

Looks like it is in nice shape. I have a '49 and a '53, but they are both Chevy one tons. Jim Carter is a good place to get parts, and they have a nice catalog. Josh

To bad it isn't a 5 window cab truck. Oh by the way if you want a 5 window cab I have one we are not going to use LOL Plus a number of other parts. Even have a fresh rebuilt 216 straight 6 we will be removing from the boys truck

Old - This one is 5 window. I will pass on the 216. Do you have 4 spd? This one is 3 on the tree. I think to be a good tractor hauler I will need that extra low gear.Got a friend I will pass along the info to.

In your picture I do not see the2 small windows that should be in the corners of the cab if it is a 5 window but then hard to tell for sure. Now if your counting the 2 wind shield and the 2 door glass your not understanding me. A true 5 window has 3 windows behind the driver head and to his right so as to have corner windows

Big problem on these old Chev's is the fact they have the enclosed drive shafts and you can not just put in any 4 speed. I have 3 4 speeds on hand but all from later model trucks. I take that back I have 4 on hand maybe if the one is not a 5 speed not sure it is in a 1965 GMC school bus with the big block V-6 in it. Boy want me to use the 4 speed from and IH scout so he has the option down the road to turn his 1951 into a 4X4

Torque tube drive line. 10-4 on that. I will stay stock at this time. Truck is in too good shape to get doing to must modification IMHO.

Big problem with the 3 on the tree is they love to lock up on you so you then have to pull over pop the hood and play with the shifter and hope you can get it to shift correctly again. The 1951 we have is next to impossible to shift gears in due to shifter wear
