Trailer hitch for vintage 69 Mopar C-body?

Just picked up a 1969 New Yorker. Can I get a decent trailer hitch for it? I want to beef up the rear to haul a 3500-4500# tractor on a small trailer.

You'll probably need to have something custom-fabricated.

Since they only had sub-frames, you want to be verrry careful. If not done right you can mess up the floor of the trunk in a hurry. (Don't ask me how I know.) That is too nice of a specimen to take chances with.
Some years ago I had a '70 4 dr. hdtp. Aztec Gold. Wern't crazy about the color, but man, I loved that car!

You might go ax on the Tractor Talk forum; I understand that in Germany they often haul BIG loads with smaller/less appropriate vehicles than that. One of the funniest things I've ever seen......since I was in front of him:

For a long time we had an eight-county feeder calve association and would have between 2 and 8 sales each year at our barn. I had gotten unloaded and was helping on the yard; here comes a fellow with an El Camino and a borrowed 16 ft cattle trailer......full of calves. No brakes/no lights. The nut on the trailer hitch ball was the lowest point; was less than 2 inches off the ground and drug each time a calf moved or he hit an irregular place in the driveway. I tend to be a live and let live kind of guy, but he should've been pulled over and made to park it.

If I remember right, that '69 should have a full frame under it. I doubt if any of the hitch manufacturers still make a hitch that will bolt on, but you might be able to find a used hitch, or maybe even adapt a hitch that fits a 1/2 ton truck. For sure you will want a weight distributing hitch, and if you can find one, I think that New Yorker will handle it just fine. I know of at least two late '60s to mid '70s Chryslers that regularly pulled large travel trailers with no problems. Don't know why a 2 ton tractor on a trailer would be any different.

if you really need to, check with u-haul, they might have something,,or check with local hitch suppliers/installers. other wise i would just restore the car and haul it to shows with the tractor....

Well, I have two 69 300's and a 71 Imperial. For the Imperial many years ago I mounted a Class 3 2" receiver hitch. I think it was a reese, but I doubt you will find one these days. The car pulled 3000 lbs pretty easy. Also put airshocks in to beef up the rear suspension. Not sure if those are available anymore. Moved up to a dually truck for my hauling these days.

I had a reese hitch on a 77 cordoba it was special order, didn't like the way it bolted up had to drill holes in trunk and use plates, worked OK but still didn't like it . Pulled a 23' terry with it car weighted in at 4000 lbs trailer at 4500 lbs.
