Scammed on tractor transport

A guy called himself "joe" got my number off YT tractor needed haul page. He called me and was VERY convincing that he needed $100 down to show I was legit as needing a haul, as in his 17 years of transporting, he used to show up and people were not there, and he spent time and money to go pick up-sounded OK to me. He said because he is is on the road constant, that I send him a money transfer using a green dot card from walmart. He didn"t show up, and I"m out $100. He won"t answer his phone either. Beware of this no-good crook without American values. Thanks for letting me vent. Well, in 35 years of deals this is a first for me. Still looking for a transporter. tomahawk, wi to Durand, Il for Allis 180 loader tractor.

Did your phone pick up his number? If so, go to Whitepages.com and see what turns up. You might get lucky. Then report it to the DA in his county. Does Walmart know where the funds were sent? Advise them it's a scam and to notify other stores.

I googled his number and all kinds of hits came up on this website! Here is the link:

I'm hauling a loader that I sold to a gentleman in Michigan this week. He offered to send me money in advance and I refused, that's just not how I do business. I'd be more than happy to help you move your Allis. Here's a pic of a tractor I hauled that drew lots of attention!

I'm sorry you got scammed, but scammers have been discussed extensively on here. Thats why reading beats posting everytime. The timme to research is BEFORE you send money....not after.

Try a website called "ZABA SEARCH"! I punched in the telephone #, & they showed a map of where the number is listed, & Said the Name is avialable for a modest fee, or You can pay a larger fee, & get legal records. It would be interesting to see the file; But I havent dealt with him; so I am not going to pay money for the information.

I filed a police report today, including other member"s complaining about the same scammer. The detectives will be looking into this. Hopefully, this can stop and he can be jailed. And for those people that sit on their high horse and think people are idiots for falling for these things, I can not type those words to fit a response to that silver spoon mentality here. These things happen every day to good hard working, smart people. I posted this to help others.

I'll take two hundres to not show and long as you passing it out.

I would have bit on it as well. I trust people over all and don't take a lot of steps not to be taken advantage of. I have never been bit on hauling but have several times buying from pictures that were taken to hide the flaws.

Jim, you are correct. The scammers are out there. Sometimes the scammers are the truckers, and sometimes the scammers are the folks who need the services of the trucker. If someone legitimately needs a tractor hauled, they shouldn't have a problem with paying a deposit up front, but they do owe it to themselves to make sure the trucker will honor that deposit and actually show up when promised. Likewise, if you are the trucker, you also need to do exactly what you said you would do.

If its JOE POWERS he is the biggest scammer hauler out there look out!!! he owes me some cash too..dark green Ford pick up?

Ah come on, you know! Anybody who lives in a single wide with 30 years of junk piled up in there yard think anybody who lives in a double-wide in a trailer park has a silver spoon in their mouths!:)

See it myself on here from time to time, those with money flaunt it!! Those who aint got the nicer stuff, think those that do have a silver spoon in their mouths!

LOL, I have included a link. Yes, I fell for a scam and if I would have thought about it I would have googled the phone number. I reported it to the police detectives and I"m done with it. What I mean, is there are people offer criticism about me falling for a scam, but they don"t have to worry about how to pay or find haulers as money is no object to them. Don"t be offended just simply if the shoe fits, wear it. Most people have earned their money through hard work, others have been born with a silver spoon. That"s all. Get off the "high horse" people that are criticising-someday you may be screwed too. This reply is not meant to point at any individual in paticular. Hopefully by my post, others can learn from my ignorance in this paticular scam.
