Nobody here is going to have any more reliable or accurate information than your neighbor.

In other words, anything you read here will be rumor and innuendo. Maybe even just random guessing, or out-and-out lies and misinformation.

You really need to ask a local DOT official.

I know the D.O.T. is imposing some new rules that WILL affect farmers to a greater extent than previously, but I think (don't know for sure) that the weight limits are increased during harvest season. Don't take my word for it however. Do a google search for "Iowa D.O.T.". The web site IS a government run website, and is set up by government type folks, therefore the whole thing is quite convoluted and confusing, but if you take the time and poke around, you will eventually find what you want to know.

Most of the information on that website is wide open to interpretation, and you will probably not interpret it the same as a D.O.T. officer does, but each officer will not interpret it the same either.

The factory for those wagons is in Ia.so you should get some good info.as to being legal or not.Unverferth doesn't want unhappy customers buying their products.A lot of chicken littles out there.

The wagons are fine when pulled by a tractor. Weight limit in Iowa is 24,000 lbs per axle. The weigth of the wagon is 7300 lbs so if you fill them clear up you will be over, but you can easily put 720 bushels of dry corn in them without going over. You can overload to your heart's content during harvest season, since the limit then is 28,000 lbs per axle. The are 9' 6" wide, so again no big issue when pulled by a tractor.

BTW, Most of Europe hauls all of their farm products with tractors in order to get around overly restrictive truck license requirements.

In Illinois a farm implement can weight 50000 lbs. So your wagon would be legal. I saw a Ford pickup pulling two of them. Somebody should have given him a ticket! Most usually you can hire a truck to haul to a river terminal for less than the trucking. Why fool with a wagon. Vic

19,845lb per axle if singles instead of dual tires
in Ontario. If a wagon is considered to be a
"trailer". I wonder if it depends on who you ask ?

You didnt specify road condtions, & are crossing any bridges. The road I live on says 10,000lbs limit. Find a modern tillage tractor that weighs less...What a laugh! Way down the road is a bridge that says 5 ton limit! Now we have a problem!!! Wont go over the bridge with a load.
