Has anyone on here ever hauled a John Deere 12A Combine?
I know that they are roughly 20' by 10,' but I don't know that they weigh.
If you have had experience hauling a John Deere 12A combine please reply.

I am looking for some pointers.

Also If I cannot come up with a trailer big enough to haul it what do you think it would cost to haul a John Deere 12A combine about 300 miles?
Should I try and find someone on here that could possibly do it or talk to trucking companies?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for everything!
From Nebraska,
Andrew Kean.

If you have never hauled one before, you don't know about all the DOT regulations involved.

I see you say about 300 miles. Is it in Nebraska, or do you cross a state line? If you cross a state line it becomes interstate commerce. You don't want to even consider it, you need commercial insurance.

I have hauled a lot of combines, tractors, hay equipment, backhoes, you name it I have hauled it years ago working at a Case dealer that also had the industrial contract. Things are a lot different now than they were in the early 80's.

I would recommend having it hauled. I have used Welchert Trucking from Ft. Calhoun, NE on a load each way from Nebraska to Illinois.

His name is Willie, home number is 402-468-5667 Mobile number is 402-740-1303

If you don't like his quote, I have also used another hauler, but he is not from Nebraska. It will take me a few minutes to find his name and number. DOUG

I found one for sale on TractorHouse. It lists the weight as being 2984 lbs.

Was just thinking, why do you need to load it to haul it? If you put good tires on it and pack the wheel bearings you should be able to bring it home running 30 to 35 MPH on 2 lane state highways. DOUG

I like the idea of pulling it home on state highways.

If you want to haul it, considering the weight, would it fit on a car hauler trailer?

If you trailer it you will have an oversize load, and it should be marked with an oversize load sign and flags at the widest point. Here's a web site to get started with a temporary oversize load permit http://www.aitaonline.com/Info/Road/Permit_Requirements.html#NE

By the way, a professional trucker would need an oversize load permit, too, and you will have to pay it.

Carry the receipt to prove ownership.

hook it on the bumper & go. I pulled mine 285 miles in 1 day. it trails nicely & bouncing is the only issue at high speeds. put magnetic lights on it, let em flash & forget about it. I passed several state mounties, local cops etc. even a state trooper in the dark, passed me. its personal property.
