Hello All:

I posted a few months back we had a blazer with a 6.2 diesel with a blown engine, it has a turbo 400 tranny and another engine in it. It ran ok for a couple of miles then started acting up. You went to hit the brakes and the engine died, but had some power. It was parked overnight and hasnt been right since. You put it in gear and it wont move. You rev it about wide open in gear and it moves at a bare crawl, almost like putting a manual in 4th gear and trying to take off, you hit the brakes and it dies. Is this a transfer case, tranny, or torque converter problem?

The next question is on a buddy"s 94-97 powerstroke. It started acting rough. After a few miles and it starts to warm up it acts rough, misses, looses power, and smokes black. He had to go up a big hill empty in 1st gear with a standard transmission. Is it injectors or could it be something else?

Thanks

Could be a few different things, check the under valve cover wiring harness plugs for melted or burnt pins. When whas the fuel filter changed last?

Tranny problem. 6.2 doesn't use vacuum, has a vacuum pump to control TH400, if it failed would get high pressure and late hard shifts. No go and stall at idle is torque converter (should slip at idle). Most likely belw metal throughout trans. Time for a rebuild.

GM sounds like the trans has a "coming out" problem as in it's coming out to be rebuilt. The Ford sounds like the injector driver module is faulty. Ran into one of those a while back. I forget what the DTC was, but it's definition was internal module problem detected. Expensive bugger. About $900 through Ford.

Gonna have to agree with Brian. Though, you would be surprised what an oil change will do! The Powerstrokes really love the good stuff, if it has been a little while give the oil change a shot. Might also look into the Cam position sensor. No idea how many of these I have been thru. The black ones are junk (or so they say) and $110.00. Their replacement is actually an "recall" item it is grey and costs $30.00.
