Hello all:

Im looking at a truck that has the 5th wheel rails in the bed. Is there any kits out there to bolt a plate to the rails with a hitch ball and tow hooks? I know some gooseneck hitches offer a square shanked 5th wheel plate to install, but didnt know if there was any way to put a ball on the 5th wheel rails.

Thanks much

i used a goose neck brand on mine but you have to add a extra bolt through the bed due to the torque of the ball in the middle of the rails on the front rail.

if it has the standard 15 k or 20k fifth wheel hitch set up they make a gooseneck setup that will install on those rails just like the fifth wheel hitch does, check with the hitch manufacture

My free advice is to gut the 5th wheel rails and install a turnover ball.

The bonus is you get a flat truck bed to work with again.

I did it this way despite the initial effort I feel it was very worthwhile and would not choose any other path. Your mileage might vary especially if you have a mixed bag of 5th wheel and gooseneck trailers to tow.
