Broker for shipping to Nova Scotia

I have a potential customer that is looking to buy some post hole digger parts from me. Our company normally ships everything via UPS, and my customer is afraid that UPS is going to tack on a huge brokerage fee for bringing it across the border. The parts are oversized, so I can't send them through the US Mail, and all of the other shipping companies are just as, if not more, expensive.

Does anyone know of a cheaper broker that I can ship through, or have a different suggestion?

Thanks!

Brian - you might be better off having your buyer locate a shipping company. That way if anything goes wrong with the shipment it can"t come back on you. Sometimes being a nice guy puts you at risk.

True. I guess I was just looking for a contact for one, then I'd let the customer call them and discuss terms. Just trying to help the guy save a little coin.

I don't know if they do US/Canada but I imported an engine rebuild kit from the UK to Nova Scotia via DHL and they were pretty reasonable. Sam

I have one customer that I ship every month in Canada. They have FedEx LTL pick it up. FedEx both faxes and emails us the bill of lading and invoices needed. Another customer in Canada uses THOMPSON, AHERN & CO. LTD. and we do the invoices and they have the carrier fax up the bill of lading. We also ship UPS LTL and all I do is check freight at the top of the right hand side and fill in the info below and the paper work is spit out of the printer. It prints four labels per skid. I some times forget to put in the correct amout of labels.

Just mark it collect and your out of any problems when the paper work is signed by the driver and is out the drive.
That is as long as you have signed all the places you are supposed to sign before.
We had one shippment a while back that was held by customs until we faxed the properly signed papers to them.
All the forms can be found on line that you type into and print. They have made it kinda easy in the last few years.
