I"m contemplating buying a case 1030 with a cab over in Wisconsin and don"t know how to get it transported over to NW Iowa where I"m located. Any thoughts or ideas?

These numbers might help. The weight will be without cab, weights, or filled tires. With a cab it may need a low trailer.

Dimensions GP wheelbase - 109 in.
Special wheelbase - 90 in.
Hood height - 72 in.
Steering wheel height - 87 in.
Width - 88 in.
GP length - 165 in.
Special length - 154 in.
Minimum clearance - 16 in.
Weight - 9,500 lbs.

Not Sure How far that is,, If it is less than 200 miles , And Toe in and Frontend parts is good and tractor Road Worthy ... Driving it may not be a terrible idea , Especiallyif You have a couple good responsible Helpers who LOVE a good challenge... If tires are old , and You are going to want to replace them after the drive Home anyway ,,, Just a Thought , Best Wishes

I hauled a 970 with cab from eastern Wisconsin to eastern MN on a 20+5 14,000lb gooseneck trailer behind a F250 Ford with a V-10. Got the job done no problem. I'd think anyone with a dependable truck and gooseneck trailer could handle that job.

As a owner of a F250 and a 1030 I would not do it. If there is fluid in the tires add several hundered more pounds, Add more if it has dauls. The F250 wil get the load moving down the road ok, but if something goes wrong like a blown tire or or an emergency stop would the F250 have enough weight to control the trailer and it's load ? I fear a 1030 going 50 mph or so would have no problem pushing a 3/4 ton pickup all over the place. I think I would go with a 2 1/2 ton truck and a pintel hitch equipment trailer.

If you have a 20000lb trailer available it would handle it better. But if you are comfortable hauling it, just go get it and take your time the hillls in eastern Iowa are alittle bigger then NW Iowa.Have fun.

what size rears does it have. Mine has 23-30 so it is pretty wide. They pulled mine home whenrearend locked up with a wrecker not pretty sight but got it home. seen one in a shed that was real nice clean new paint but not fopr sale. about 9 miles from me. also have an old guty who has one I have been trying to buy for 10 years be ruined now as hasn,t been started for a while

POST IT ON HAULING SQUEDULE, THEY ARE HUNGRY RIGHT NOW, LOOK FOR RESONABLE OFFER. THERE ARE SOME REALLY GREAT HAULERS OUT THERE, THAT FOLLOW YESTERDAYS TRACTOR, FRIENDS.

I don't know about that .... I haul 5+ tons of big bales with a 24' gooseneck and a 2500 Ram (single rears) in the mountains but I sure wouldn't want to try it with a bumper-pull

mj, you may want to check the towing capicity of your 2500. I think it is rated at 15650 #. More than any F250. My 1030 with all the weights, fluid in the tires, a cab, empty fuel tank and duals is little less than 16000 #. A big 5th wheel is pushing 3000 #. So 19000# or a bit less. Perhaps 2 tons more than my 250 is rated for. If the tractor broke would I use the 250 to bring it back from some distant field if I didn't have a real truck? Probably. Would I transport it on highways or across state lines, No way. One blown tire or emergency lane change could have a real bad impact on the rest of your, and probably others, life
