tractors on the road?

With all this discussion of yes you can, no you can't drive a tractor on the road, that reminds me of Alvin Straight. He drove a 110 JD garden tractor hauling an enclosed trailer from Laurens Ia to Wisconsin to see his ailing brother. He couldn't see well enough to drive a car. It made the news here. After Alvin died, there was a movie made called "The Straight Story" that told the story of his journey.

I've drove tractors on the road before. I rented that Straight Story show before and stopped watching it close to the beginning. There is a lot of swearing in it. :(

yes the language is a little hard, but the story is well worth the time, we sure enjoyed it is it bad if the first time we heard about it we were at a church pot luck dinner?

I live only about 10 miles from where his brother lived in WI. Mt. Zion. The scene in the bar asking for directions to his brothers house in the end of the movie is actually filmed at the Mt Zion bar about 1-2 miles from his brothers house.

ohh I agree that was a good movie. They showed that on our local TV channel last year.

Not sure how it works other places, but as far as I know in MO. most deeds to farms are on the section line, the center of the road. Not talking highways here, but gravels. I know there is an easment of some sorts, but yes, in fact I do own the road.

Yes you own the road, and you are probably paying property taxes on that acreage. I have toyed with the idea of appealing my assessment on those grounds, but they would probably re-appraise me and raise everything else.

Mark,
I"ve stopped at that bar to see it"s layout from what I saw on the movie. Is that old place where the brother lived still there?
Excellent movie, the few swear words were mostly at the beginning. I"m a native Iowan, and have heard worse words out there when good church going folks are loading hogs.
Several years ago the trailer in the movie was in Clermont, displayed in a room with a window.
Great movie...it"s a real tear jerker at the end.
LA in Reedsburg
