Car hauler dimensions?

Hey folks -- I'm looking to haul my '52 Ferguson TEA20 about 180 miles and figure a standard car hauler would fit the bill as I'm sure even with loaded tires I'm under 3000 pounds.

I'll have to rent one somewhere but first want to know if anyone can tell me:

-how wide is that gap between the wheel bunks?
-how wide are the wheel bunks themselves?

The way my tractor is configured I'm assuming the rear wheels are probably the determining factor with 42 inches between the rear inner sidewalls and about 64 inches between outside sidewalls. What with a little bulging at the bottom due to weight the tires themselves are 12 inches wide at that point.

And for bonus marks, what's the story with Uhaul? I've heard that they won't rent for any purpose other than passenger vehicles while other people report renting for tractor transport without a hitch (no pun intended...). A casual look at their website gives no indication that anything is strictly prohibited other than "the vehicle" can't be over 80 inches wide, 133 inches long, or heavier than 4000 pounds.

They don't like tractors on their car haulers because tractors aren't sprung. Hit a bad bump in the road with a car on and it's suspension absorbs some of the shock to the deck and suspension of the trailer. Hit the same bump with a tractor lashed down and you'll bend up their expanded metal decking and stress the trailer springs more than they like and maybe more than they're meant to withstand.

If you just tell them at UHaul your picking up a small 1/2 ton Pickup. Then you can rent from them. Just don't menton the trctor.
