(OT a bit) Motorcraft carburator

I inherited my late uncles 1978 Ford F-250 2WD 460ci. C6 A/T Trailer Special.

My question has anyone ever rebuilt these Motorcraft Carburators? It is a model 4350 4BBl and it is not the Holley version. I have rebuilt other carbs, but this one looks rather complicated with all of the decel diaphrams and idle speed solinoids.

The engine starts and idles good, it just runs very rich at idle and light throttle. I have also replaced the plugs, wires, cap & rotor. My goal is to get it road worthy and use it on the weekends. It has been sitting since about 1999 when my uncle retired it, so my list of repairs may get longer as I get into it.

I can say one thing, It feels odd driving it. My Uncle is the only one I ever remember driving it, and me riding in the back as a kid.

Any info or guidance is greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Brian

I wouldn't think it would be too tough to OH.

I've only done ONE, and that was a LONG time ago!

Certainly easier that OH'ing the MONSTROUS variable venturi units for used for a few years!

You obviously have a digital camera. Take LOTS of photos as you're tearing it down, in case you forget how a linkage connects up. The kit SHOULD come with some good basic instructions.

For some interesting facts about that carb, take a peek at the site linked below:
